The announcement on 26th January 2024 by Jurgen Klopp that he would be leaving Liverpool Football Club at the end of the 2023/2024 season came as a surprise to the football fraternity, European football in particular.
Klopp has had a fair share of success at Liverpool for the now years he has been at the club, having seen them win, among other titles, the UEFA Champions League and their first ever English league title in the Premier League era.
This, coupled with the fact that Liverpool have a five-point lead at the top of the current English Premier League table, could very easily be taken for an ideal setting for a manager’s comfort zone.
However, it would appear there has been more going on behind the scenes, with Klopp saying he informed the club about his decision to leave way back in November 2023.
The only reason Klopp gave (the media) for his intended departure was that he felt he longer had the energy to continue in the job.
Well, football being a game full of surprises has just been treated to a shocker….
