As the English Premier League (EPL) reaches the homestretch, all the twenty teams are focused on attaining certain minimums.
The relegation battle has got even tougher, probably the toughest in recent history, while the fight for European football next season has got juicier.
However, there is no denying the fact that most of the attention is firmly on the fight for top honours, ie the EPL title.
The fight for the title has morphed into a two-horse race, pitting Arsenal, who have been at the top of the log for most of the season, and the defending champions, Manchester City.
Looking at the remaining fixtures for the two contenders, the balance as it is currently, tilts slightly in favour of Arsenal. This is mainly for the following reasons;
1. Arsenal, unlike Manchester City, can still afford to drop points yet stay at the top.
2. Manchester City will highly likely drop points too, even if not many, something they can ill-afford, and this will likely work in favour of Arsenal.
3. Manchester City have a packed run of matches comprising UEFA Champions League, FA Cup and, of course, the EPL. This could put a strain on their capabilities, maybe, unlike Arsenal who only have the EPL fixtures to contend with.
4. At this stage of the season, with Arsenal now ‘smelling victory’, it is unlikely that their fighting spirit will let go at this crucial moment in time.
